GET TO KNOW A LITTLE MORE ABOUT MY WRITING AS A WHOLE!
I find myself experimenting within every piece I create, whether it be with point of view, genre, or amount of detail. Through descriptive elaboration, attention to the senses, and poetic prose, my contemporary short stories create vivid imagery that takes the reader away to another place. I want to branch the realms of more serious work with imagination (blend the adult with the child), in order to create work that is appropriate for an older audience to read, yet whimsical enough to keep that inner child within all of us alive a little longer. My words are a rhythm to be danced to, even if I’m the only one dancing.
As someone who finds themselves intrigued by psychology and emotion, I try to make that a focus in the characters I create. I want the reader to have a sneak peek into the character’s minds in order to understand their occasionally out of place behavior. Despite the variety in my work, there’s always that one exaggerated or unrealistic element in a character’s behavior or physique. For example, maybe the character feels the need to get revenge on someone they hardly know. My stories guide the reader through the reasoning and thought process behind this odd need.
My work is not tied down by style, tone, or concept. No, not all of my work is based off real life events. And it’s not all written about in the same way: one day we’re taking a long scenic drive through details and exposition, the next, we’re just heading down a couple of familiar blocks. My elaboration has no length: I either let the reader fill in the blanks or give them the details so we can be in the same world together. The stories range in emotional appeal as well. Maybe it’s wholesome with a happy ending. Maybe it’s mysterious and ominous. Or maybe it’s just plain disturbing.
Overall, there’s a variety to my fiction. It is destined to paint pictures and get the reader involved by inviting them into the world I have created. My work is an invitation to what goes on inside my head. It can be an abstract yet beautiful, musical place: you just have to be brave enough (and maybe a little quirky) to understand it.
Voiceover Statement
A SHORT SUMMARY OF MY VOICE ACTING CAPABILITIES
Based out of Illinois, I have been going after and tackling many fun (and sometimes challenging) VO projects for nearly four years. The majority of the projects I have taken on have been radio and audio dramas and animations, but I have also been featured on podcasts and even a short film. The directors I work with praise me for my versatile and adaptable voice and ability to take direction (hey, sometimes a little bit of tooting your own horn is called for). I am always willing to try something new and see what I can make my voice do.
Throughout my career, I have played a variety of characters and have many more on my demo reels ready for action. My natural voice lends itself to narrative and authoritative roles, perfect for a narrator, mother, or boss of some sorts. I can also voice teenagers, children, and animals, and can perform with a variety of tones and qualities, from comedic to dramatic, playful to violent, gentle to demanding—ask and you shall receive. Throughout the many projects I have acted in, I demonstrate that I can be both the hero and the villain.
I have experience working in and outside of a recording booth and am equipped with a home recording setup in a sound treated space. I sport equipment from Shure, including an SM27 condenser mic and MVI audio interface, with my DAW of choice being Adobe Audition, but I plan to switch to Audacity in the near future.
Overall, this young woman has an arsenal of voices and talent ready to make any character come to life. No matter the nature of the project, I am confident I have a voice that'll be perfect for whatever it is you're looking for.
